Jamkhed

Tehsil Jamkhed, District Ahmednagar, Maharashtra.

Jamkhed Taluka, Ahmednagar District
Jamkhed is a large village with a population of about 30,000. Jamkhed hosts the popular annual Nag Panchami fair which occurs in July or August. There is a weekly cattle and vegetable market on Saturday, which draws hundreds of people from many villages.
Cell phones and internet access have recently been introduced into this area as has cable TV. Power supply is often unreliable especially during the dry season when load-shedding is greatest.
Jamkhed is the home of famous marathi film producer and humourist Ramdas Futane, who produced films such as Samanaa (1975).
Jamkhed is also home to the Comprehensive Rural Health Project, founded by Drs. Raj and Mabelle Arole in 1970 (www.jamkhed.org).
